Austin Community College is discussing plans to build retail space and apartments into Highland Mall as part of a mixed-use component. The project developer, RedLeaf Properties, said the completion of the mixed-use space could take 10 to 20 years, and may include office space as well.
ACC is currently developing an extensive math facility in what was once the J.C. Penney building at Highland Mall. There are also additional plans to develop a wellness center, creative media facilities, a fine arts center, as well as a hospitality and culinary arts center. The ACC board of trustees is requesting a master plan, timeline and estimated cost from project developers.
