Austin, Tx is among the top twenty large metropolitan areas with high-growth firms according to a recent examination of Inc. 500 companies over the past 30 years. That is great however are we too focused on high-tech?
According to the study a large number of these fast-growing privately held companies and founders are found in unexpected locations and industries. These studies have provided valuable insights for state and local economic development programs, such as focus on companies that are high-growth rather than just on high-tech.
