In terms of the percentage in population growth, San Marcos was named as the fastest-growing city for the second time since last year by the United States Census Bureau. On the other hand, Hays County was hailed as the fastest-growing county in the region.
Based on the survey conducted between July 2012 and July 2013, the population of San Marcos increased by 8 percent. Meanwhile, Hays County’s population grew to 176, 026 with 4.1 growth rate. Cedar Park gained a 5.6 percent increase and landed on the 4th spot. Georgetown got the 7th spot with its 4.5 percent population increase.
