The Austin City Council recommends Spansion LLC and Flextronics America LLC for a state incentive program. The deals between the two technology companies and the city council involve tax break in trade for more jobs and investments for the city.
For Spanson, the council offers a $1.5 million tax break for the company in return for an estimate for $200 million investment. The $1.5 million tax break will be used by the company for its expansion. Flextronics will add 300 new employees, retain its currently employed 200 staff and invest $15 million in exchange for a $1.25 million tax break.
