Mayor Steve Adler has added another possible solution to Austin’s transportation problem and proposed that businesses reduce the percentage of their workers who drives alone to work by 20% by 2020. In his speech before the Downtown Austin Alliance on Tuesday, the mayor included the $720 million transportation bond and called for the support to the initiative of Mobility Austin to help Austin resolve its transportation issue. He calls for businesses to look for alternative transportation options for all employees which can help reduce traffic in the city. Reducing single-occupancy vehicles in Austin may prove difficult however as it is currently at 74%, but a small reduction to this number may help the issue.
