Austin to Pass Up San Antonio’s Population by 2035

Thanks to the Asian and Hispanic segments and the suburban areas such as Williamson County Austin’s population is estimated to surpass San Antonio’s by 2035.  San Antonio Metropolitan area currently has 2.14 million people (25th in U.S.) and Austin’s MSA has a little over 1.7 million people (35th in U.S.).  Based on percentage growth Austin ranks 3rd in the U.S from 2000 to 2010 and FIRST from 2010 to 2011.  If Austin continues with it’s 3.2% annual growth in population it will have close to 4.5 million people by the year 2040.
