According to the Daily Beast Austin, Tx is the #1 Aspirational City in the United States. You might ask how does a city become aspirational? Well, city characteristics change over time however for their current study they based it off of the Economy, Quality of Life, and certain demographic factors.
For the economic factors they took into consideration job growth, average income levels, and unemployment. Demographically they looked at factors such as the growth of college graduates and domestic migration. Traffic congestion, housing costs, etc were factors looked at for quality of life.
Austin, Tx and New Orleans took the top two spots because the lower costs of living, low taxes, and cultural options.
