The Texas Workforce Commission’s September jobs report shows Austin is tied for the lowest jobless rate in Texas. In the report, Austin has a 3.5% unemployment rate, which is higher than its last year record of 3.3%. This unemployment rate is tied with Amarillo’s record, having 126,900 employed workers out of its perceived labor force of 131,500 workers. The report also included Texas’ regularly adjusted unemployment rate, citing that it is increasing to the national average of 5% as it is now at 4.8%. Despite these numbers, Texas still opens new jobs for the public. This past September alone, the state opened 38,500 non-farm jobs despite the visible trend of unemployment.
