How Austin’s mayor wants to cut traffic — one day at a time

Mayor Steve Adler is working overtime to ensure that Austin’s traffic problem is reduced day by day. In his recent calls to the Austin people regarding the problem, he asked Austin businesses to allow their employees to work from home on May 11 or let them off early to ensure they would not be caught by the rush hour. This initiative “Austin, Don’t Rush Day” aims to replicate the same results that occurred on March 11 when city officials pushed for a work-from-home day in light of President Obama’s visit for the South by Southwest Festival. The City Council is working with advertising firm GSD&M to promote the imitative and look on a different perspective on traffic reduction.
