In a recent report released by Zillow Inc, Austin currently has the lowest rate throughout Texas of young millennials still living with their parents. In the 2014 data cited by the report, 14% of Austin millennials still live with their parents because of the high hiring rates in the city and the low recession rate. San Antonio has the highest rate of young millennials living with their parents with 24.6%. Zillow stressed that the reason for the high rates of young adults living with their parents – even in Austin which previously scored 6.4% – is due to the increasing prices of rent and slow economic growth.
