Austin residents can now enjoy the toll benefits provided by Carma Carpooling, an Ireland-based company who developed a mobile app for real-time carpooling. The carpool service program will be extended to the new Manor Expressway.
Carma launched the first and only ridesharing mobile app in Austin last February. This May, the mobile app reached 1,000 members. According to Mayor Lee Leffingwell, traffic problems may be potentially addressed by such innovations and businesses may be attracted to invest in the city. As a matter of fact, there is a possibility that Lyft and Sidecar companies may open a shop in Austin.
