There are rising challenges in downtown Austin that are really hurting small businesses. One of them is the increasing property value.
This is a growing problem, especially to the entertainment district along Red River Street and East Sixth Street. Club owners said that the rate per square foot has been doubled. Another issue that is surrounding downtown Austin is the convenience in finding a parking space.
The Austin Chronicle reported the decreasing number of parking spaces in the entertainment area. This is one of the reasons that some music venues and clubs opened their businesses in north and south Austin.
