Last week, IBM announced the layoff of scores of its employees and the impact to Austin is still unknown. There are no reports yet on how many IBM employees are located in Austin have or will be impacted by this change. According to Lee Conrad, a union organizer at Alliance@IBM, the company has laid off 1, 098 staff across the entire organization.
IBM announces its plan about the layoffs on February 27 calling the process a “rebalance” in order to meet their clients’ changing requirements. The company is embracing the Cloud technology and Cognitive and Analytic computing.
