Intrigue swirls around prime downtown Austin block as county negotiates with developers

The plan of Travis County to sell the prime downtown block at Guadalupe Street is earning quite an intrigue in the past couple of days in terms on who is likely going to purchase the block. On Tuesday, the County commissioners have voted to speak to one of the unidentified firms bidding for the downtown lot. Several bids were submitted by the County when they purchased the property in 2010 with three bids removed in the list. The County has yet to reveal the identity of the leading bidder and in a statement, County Judge Sarah Eckhardt said that “they will receive significant value for this asset above the original purchase price.”
