After opening consular offices in five other key cities, the Ireland government announced in January that it will also set up a consulate in Austin. This government initiative is part of Ireland’s aim to promote Irish businesses, target foreign investors as well as to look after the welfare of Irish people who live in Austin and nearby areas.
Almost nine months after that announcement, the first ever European embassy in Austin has finally opened. For the meantime, the consular officials occupy a temporary office and are expected to transfer to their permanent space located at the Bank of America’s building.
