Nowadays, it is unusual to hear people still without internet access, especially in urban cities like Austin. However, statistics show that there are still 55,000 adult Austinites which do not have internet access and 44% have remarked they are not interested with the digital age. In order to help these unconnected Austinites and inspire them to get connected, the City Council launched the Digital Inclusion Program which would open more opportunities for these people to go online. Aside from helping these Austinites get connected, grant funding is available through the Grant for Technology Opportunities Program for inspiring programs that would help digital connectivity. Volunteers are also welcome to assist in helping with the program.
