It’s no secret that Austin is in growth mode. Current companies are expanding and new companies are moving into the area to make Austin their new home. With the boom comes new jobs, more tenants, more need for commercial office space and of course more hotels for visitors. Community Impact recently published an article titled, “West Travis County draws Hotel options,” to share the hotel boom planned for Lakeway, Barton Creek and Bee Caves.
Renovations and new hotels are planned to indeed bring more relaxation, shopping, lake activities and of course new dining options. According to Robert Kisker, Lakeway Resort and Spa general manager, hotel investors see Austin and the surrounding areas as having a thriving economy and they want to get in on the action.
Some of the anticipated renovations and new construction planned include; Lakeway Resort and Spa – undergoing over $5 million in renovations to its 168 rooms planned to be complete in 2014, the opening of Masterson’s Steakhouse on-site and key updates to meeting and kitchen areas. A brand new town center is proposed for the area to include a hotel, new restaurants and senior housing. In addition, the Lakeway Regional medical center also has plans to house a hotel.
Barton Creek has been purchased by Omni Hotels and Resorts with big plans for renovations and additions. Bee Cave may soon see the addition of Sonesta Hotel to the Hill Country Galleria area with another in discussion. Plus Four Points plans two new hotels in the 620 and 2222 areas.
The landscape is surely changing bringing with it new growth, more opportunities and more luxury.
