Austin City Mayor Steven Adler has been busy regarding his campaign for the downtown area and he recently outlined a strategy that would help expand the Austin Convention Center and create new green spaces for the downtown area. On Thursday, the Mayor called to his peers to support several downtown initiatives and proposals for the downtown area. He also suggested new ways to fund the projects like adding hotel taxes. Many had commended the mayor for his efforts such as the Downtown Austin Association president and CEO Dewitt Peart. However, Peart cited that the strategy must also focus on taking every opportunity that can be done in the downtown area.
