Summer X Games axed in Austin, event seeks new home in 2017

Although it is slated to host the games until 2017, Austin would no longer host the Summer X Games in 2017 according to ESPN. The last Summer X Games that would be held in Austin would occur from June 2 to 5 at the Circuit of The Americas. The reason for ESPN’s announcement is due to the lowering turnout of attendees for the X Games since they moved the games to the city in 2014. Reports also highlight that it is also due to the state’s decision to recall subsidies paid to COTA as the venue for the events.

Currently, Charlotte, Chicago and Detroit are considered as the new hosts to the 2017 Summer X Games.
