Texas is hotter than a billy goat in a pepper patch
The reasons why we live in Texas continue to pile up. As the second-largest state in the country we should be proud of the fact that Texas provides many economic reasons to want to live here. Just to name a few:
- Lower unemployment rate than the national average
- No state income tax
- Our taxes are lower than most cities
- Lower cost of doing business
The list goes on and on. The most recent report by Comerica Bank indicates that Texas not only achieved stronger growth than the nation in 2010, we are also poised to continue outperforming the national economy throughout 2011. Check out the latest Texas Economic Activity Index . This index measures eight seasonally-adjusted indicators of real economic activity in the areas of: manufacturing, travel, trade sectors, job growth, and consumer outlays.
As of right now the index sits at 94 which is higher than it has been in the last two years. The highest over the last 10 years was a little over 100 around 2008. This is just another reason we should have more confidence going into 2011 and beyond.
Like any other state, Texas does have its challenges, however based on the economics, friendly business environment, outdoor activities, history, and amateur and professional sports, I think we live in a great state!
