Once again HEB is opening another grocery store location! The Oaks at Lakeway will become Lakeway, Tx new downtown center located at the intersection of Glen Heather Drive and RR 620. The 90 acre tract of land will soon become a lifestyle center with trails, golf cart paths, and beautiful landscaping.
The plan is to build 250,000 sf of retail space with HEB taking up roughly 90k to 100k sf. the $70 million dollar construction for The Oaks at Lakeway is slated to start mid to late 2014 and will open for business in mid-2015 according to the developers Stratus Properties and Beau Armstrong.
This won’t be like a typical retail strip center. The Oaks at Lakeway will be a lifestyle center with smaller buildings, outdoor seating, lots of green space with trails and a pond……and golf cart accessible! There has been talk about a movie theater however the PUD plan does not currently include that.
Local economists predict that the new downtown center will generate over $1 million in annual sales tax. The developers say that they will focus on leasing retail space to local businesses however we will see.
