The Open Office DebateThere is a growing debate nowadays regarding the open office structure, which others believe to present a more open and modern format for businesses to try to accommodate collaboration between employees. Collaboration is crucial because it allows employees to integrate ideas. However, according to Steelcase Senior Vice President Eddy Schmitt and psychologist Ron Friedman, not all open offices can trigger collaboration because there are other factors that must be considered to make work more productive. There must be considerations when it comes to an individual employee’s choice and control over their work environment. The company’s image and body language must also be reflected in the office space since this will reflect the company’s vision and mission.
