Austin may be the “Live Music Capitol of the World”, but there is so much more to the city than that! However, it may be overwhelming for visitors who are wondering how to navigate the options that are available to them. In order to make your time in the city more enjoyable, Austin Tenant Advisors has made a few recommendations of things to do in Austin Tx:
1. Check out the dining scene in Austin
Being a college town, there is a wealth of inexpensive but great restaurants. From the food trailers on South Congress Avenue to some of the fancier restaurants in downtown Austin, there is something for everyone. Provided you have the time in your itinerary, you should definitely check out the “Austin Eats Food Tours”. The tour is basically what it describes: a tour of various restaurants and eateries in Austin. It is rated very highly on many review sites and will expose you to a variety of different cuisines. And speaking of different cuisines, check out the Whole Foods corporate headquarters in downtown Austin! Not only can you get groceries there, they also have a huge portion of the store devoted to food that you can purchase and eat right there.
2. Go see a few concerts!
This of course is a given of what to do in Austin, but this is one attraction that is better to plan ahead for because tickets will be cheaper on presale than at the door. Depending on when you go, there are a lot of great music festivals: Austin City Limits, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and South By Southwest, just to name a few. South By Southwest is particularly enjoyable because it encompasses the entire city, and many of the concerts are free. 3. Take a tour of the city
A city as old as Austin has a lot of history, and being the Capitol of Texas it has a lot of beautiful landmarks. And by virtue of “keeping Austin weird”, there are a lot of interesting (and odd-ball) ways to take tours of Austin. First of all, there are Segway tours of the Capitol. Yes you read that right, Segway tours! Don’t worry, they are totally safe and very easy to get a hang of. Then, there are the Duck Tours that take you on a tour of Austin to see various landmarks, after which you are taken out onto Lake Travis. It is a great and inexpensive way to see the city.
