The University of Texas was among the eleven institutions that will participate in the federal funded research on brain surgery. The Department of Defense (DOD) will be releasing $17 million for the research that will done in five years.
Two psychology professors of the university, David Schnyer and Alex Valadka, will be sharing laboratory data analysis with fellow researchers from other states. All expenses of the professors will be shouldered by DOD.
The study will be in cooperation with the FDA, which will set the standards for the picking clinical patients and defining the criteria for effective brain injury remedies.
