UT to Use $6M per Year For Student Athletes

money2The Austin-based University of Texas is planning to allocate an annual $6 million budget for their school athletes. This is in response to the court rulings about compensating school athletes as university or college employees.

The plans were discussed by Steve Patterson, UT’s athletic director. There was no clear statement on where the added expense would come from. Patterson said that the university is generating money from their basketball programs and football.

There was no particular date on when the compensation would begin for the athletes. University of Texas is known for having the best athletics program in the country.
