Why Open-Office Layouts Are Bad For Employees and Productivity

This is a great article by Jason Feifer where it points out the disadvantages of having an open-office layout. There is an ongoing debate regarding hard-walled office and open-office space as the best office layout for employees and productivity.

Many articles talk about the advantages of having an open-office floor plan. However, Feifer pointed out some reasonable argument of having an open office layout as a bad idea.

He made some interesting points in his article like open office floor plans encourage a lot of office destruction that negatively affect work productivity and quality. He also pointed out the disadvantage of having an easy access to everyone in the office including the people who wish “not” to be disturbed. He made a good point that though open office promotes socialization it also gives the same effect of becoming distant from everyone.
