In a panel at the recent Austin Startup Week event there was one meaningful quote by Tim Kern of Getpromotd that best gives justification for why Austin is a great place for startups:-“If you are a small fish, you have a better chance of surviving in a little pond than the middle of the ocean.” The panelists at the Austin start up weekend agreed that Austin is the best place for building companies with smaller investments and the potential for more profitability than in Silicon Valley. The panelists focused on the Austin’s strengths of being a place where entrepreneurs have a culture of encouragement and are willing to share and collaborate on ideas.
Other reasons for moving a company to Austin included, 300 days of sunshine, food carts, lower cost of living and doing business, low taxes, lower lease rates, great schools, etc.
