Bar owners in Austin sensed a boost on their businesses due to 2014 world fever. Every time the US team has a game, the watering holes downtown were flooded with people in flag-adorned shirts. According to bars and pubs, their earnings doubled from their normal business days.
James Taylor, the general manager and partner at Holy Mountain bar, reported that their income increased by 100 percent when there are US games. He also stipulated that almost 200 people support U.S. on the World Cup, and these customers ordered lots of drinks. Fado Irish Pub also experienced similar increase in sales.
