Texas State University acquired 20 acres of land to pursue its expansion plans for Science, Technology and Advances Research (STAR) Park. This acquisition was made possible after the TSU board of regents approved the $1.7 million budget.
To add 6 new lab spaces immediately, the regents decided to split the expansion, and the first phase will be funded by US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, city of San Marcos and TSU.
The expansion will be completed in 20 years, increasing the size of the park to over 58 acres and housing engineering, laboratory and office space for technology innovation.
