East Austin Experiencing Retail Space Boom!

East Austin retail space leasing activity has been on the rise by as much as 30% according to an article in the statesman.  The gentrification of East Austin continues as local and national retailers and restaurants seek hip, trendy, and eclectic retail locations for their brands.  Retail Shopping and dining options in this area are long overdue as its historically been an underserved market.  Quickie Pickie is one of the most recent examples.  It will soon be located on the corner of East 11th and Navasota st.

All this change is not without challenges however.

• Lower incomes in this area have historically and continue to deter and delay retail development.
• Some families in East Austin oppose this growth as it’s causing their area to be too expensive for them to live in.
