What some may call the most famous food trailer park in the U.S., the South Congress (aka SOCO) food trailer park is going to be replaced with a new hotel development. SOCO ATX Developments, who owns the property, has given the food trailer owners until March 2013 to pack up and move out.
While the site has been a popular attraction for tourists, local food lovers, and others, the $1500 per month that the owners have collected per trailer does not have much of an impact on Austin’s economic growth. Having a hotel in this location will bring millions of additional income to the city of Austin.
