If you are looking for an Austin office that is within walking distance to restaurants, retail, and other amenities there are really only 4 areas that can accommodate that. Downtown Austin, The Domain, The Arboretum, and The Hill Country Galleria
Downtown Austin – This one is obvious. Downtown Austin is a vibrant area full of energy. You’ll find a lot of tech & software companies located here so they can have easy access to the young talent pool. There are over 80 office buildings in downtown Austin that are within walking distance or just a short cab ride to tons of restaurants and bars. The only drawback of downtown is the traffic getting in and out of the area as well as the time it takes to find a parking space. Also parking is not free here as it averages $150 to $250 per month per space.
The Domain – This area is considered the 2nd downtown area in Austin. Flush with tons of new retail, office buildings, multifamily, shopping, bars, & restaurants it’s an awesome place to live, work, and play. It’s actually more walkable than downtown Austin with lots of sidewalks that take you throughout the entire area. There about 10-15 office buildings within the Domain which has easy access to Mopac, Hwy 183, Hwy 360, and I-35. It’s pretty much the center of Austin and located in North Austin near Braker Lane and Mopac Expressway
The Arboretum – This area is located in Northwest Austin near the intersection of Hwy 360 and 183. There are only 4 buildings in the immediate area that are withing walking distance to all of the amenities. There are tons of restaurants and shopping including Trader Joes, Starbucks, Cheesecake Factory, Newk’s Eatery, etc.
Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave – This area is in the hill country and not for everyone. It’s a great area with strong demographics. There are about 8 office buildings within walking distance to such restaurants as Chisos Grill, Tadashi, All Star Burger, etc. There is also a movie theater, whole foods market, and tons of other local conveniences making it easy for your employees to take care of their daily lives.
