U.S. News and World Report checked the performance of 4,743 hospitals in Texas last year and ranked them according to their overall patient safety and death rates for the 16 specialty areas like cardiology and cancer treatment.
Scott and White Healthcare ranked first in Central Texas and Seton Medical Center in Austin came in second. The two hospitals ranked eleventh and twelfth respectively in the whole Texas area.
Meanwhile, Austin Business Journal also ranked the hospitals based on the total of in-patient admissions for 2012. Seton Medical Center topped the list, and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center ranked second.
